Bipartite/Flexibility

Russell McVeagh's bipartite system is a great way to ensure that summer clerks gain valuable insight into the various areas of law the firm works in. You get an in-depth look at two different groups over the summer, with a real opportunity to make an informed decision about where you would like to specialise.

The bipartite system pairs you with buddies and partners from different practice groups so that you can get a taste of the kind of work that each group is required to do. It's also really flexible - If you would like to try a different area, then the people here are very open and accommodating in helping you give it a go.

It is hard to know what area you want to be in with no practical experience in a law firm, and so this system helps ensure that you are able to find the right place for you. In such a large firm, it is great to have contacts among the various practice groups, no matter which one you end up working in.

The flexible bipartite system is certainly one of the highlights of the Russell McVeagh Summer Clerk Programme.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT & CORPORATE ADVISORY GROUP

“The bipartite system is fantastic, as it enables you to become part of the team that you sit with all summer, whilst also getting exposure to another practice group. A real highlight was when I was able to attend an important and high profile client meeting with my bipartite team - a great chance to see the law in action in a public, and quite high stakes, situation.”
