Debating & Competitions

Russell McVeagh is known as “the debating firm”. The firm has long been the sponsor of high-school debating in New Zealand. Every year, it funds the national team as it represents New Zealand overseas. In 2010, I was lucky enough to travel to Qatar to represent New Zealand, thanks to Russell McVeagh’s generous sponsorship. Russell McVeagh have also sponsored our competitions locally, and made it possible for New Zealand to host international debating competitions here. Debating has really improved the way I approach problems, and is all about teamwork and public speaking.

Russell McVeagh supports practical legal skills at University by sponsoring the Client Interviewing competition. The fun and user-friendly competition gives students the opportunity to interact with clients, generate creative solutions and develop and test inter-personal skills crucial to any successful lawyer.
