A busy training schedule gets you up-to-speed fast, ensures you have a chance to learn about the different areas of law the firm practises, and how to do your job more effectively. The training covers in-depth areas of law, (things you won’t be exposed to in law school), such as the commercial considerations underpinning transactions, drafting new contracts, and designing organisation structures from scratch.
You’ll get to hear from a lot of different people about developments in the law, cases in progress, large deals the firm has worked on, and how recent developments might affect the firm or its clients.
On top of that is the summer clerk specific training on how to use the internal systems, the ins-and-outs of Word, networking skills and advocacy, as well as tasters of all of the practice areas in case you want to change your mind. A steady supply of tea, coffee, delicious breakfasts and lunches mean you’re well fuelled to take it all on.

A highlight of the training programme for me was the inclusion of overviews of each different team, allowing some insight into what the other teams do even if we have no direct experience with them.
Training is offered across a range of practice groups and topics. I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to go to advocacy training out of interest, despite the fact it is not relevant to my current team.
